Review: 2XU Thermal Tights #RunHyoptik

Disclaimer: I received one pair of 2XU thermal tights to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out to review find and write race reviews!

With the temperature dropping as summer turned to fall, and fall turned to winter, it was time to ditch the running shorts in favor of longer, warmer wears.

They work during the day, too!

I received a pair of 2XU Thermal Tights to try out and I’ve worn them over the last few months on a multitude of runs. I opted to get the 3/4 length option, since I normally like to wear higher socks and thought that would be sufficient. I realize now, as it gets colder and colder, that the full-length ones are probably best if you’re looking to stay warm as you run!

IMG_8155Either way, these tights will keep you warm — 3/4 or full-length.

2XU designed these tights to be worn anytime, but especially during night runs, since sunlight is at a premium in these colder months. All of the lettering on the tights are reflective, to help you be seen by passing cars while you’re out on your run.

I’m not one to wear just the tights out on a run, so I normally wore them as a base layer to keep me warm with a pair of running shorts over the top.

Because I got the 3/4 length, some of the reflective lettering was obscured by my running shorts, so I would again opt for the longer ones if being seen by your compression tights is of utmost priority to you.

As for the compression aspect, I tend to believe it’s more of a placebo that compression gear can help you run or recover better. But, if you think it works for you, then go for it!

Overall, these are a great pair of reflective/compression tights that are my go-to on my cold, night runs recently.
