If you’re not one to do loops during your training runs, you’re going to need to figure out how to stay hydrated as the miles mount.

Thankfully, OrangeMud has developed some awesome backpack-esque items to carry water bottles as you run for 3… 5… 10… 50… or 100 miles.

I got a chance to test the HydraQuiver Single Barrel and it was a great companion on the trails and the roads over the last few weeks of running. It snugly fits against your back and the straps tuck easily into your armpit. The bottle doesn’t bounce, spill or shake while running, which was awesome!

Here’s how to wear it, courtesy of their YouTube channel:

As for the design and material, OM said: “Thick foam padding and big air channels provide ample support and maximum breath-ability.” Tests prove they’re right.

I think the best part, that unlike with hydration bladders, is that the HydraQuiver can hold pretty much any standard reusable water bottle. My OrangeMud bottle was in the dishwasher when I wanted to go for a run, so I just grabbed any of the countless bottles we have lying around, filled it up and was on my way!

It also has a great little zipper area in the back to store gels or car keys and areas on the sleeves to tuck in a phone, more nutrition or anything you may take with you on a run (I packed my mini-tripod in there without incident).

I shot this video while wearing the HydraQuiver, so you can see what it looks like in action:

Overall, I was really happy with the OrangeMud HyrdaQuiver Single Barrel. It will be a faithful companion on many runs to come.
