If you’re not one to do loops during your training runs, you’re going to need to figure out how to stay hydrated as the miles mount.

Thankfully, OrangeMud has developed some awesome backpack-esque items to carry water bottles as you run for 3… 5… 10… 50… or 100 miles.

I got a chance to test the HydraQuiver Single Barrel and it was a great companion on the trails and the roads over the last few weeks of running. It snugly fits against your back and the straps tuck easily into your armpit. The bottle doesn’t bounce, spill or shake while running, which was awesome! We officially live in the future!

You no longer need to have anything in your ears to listen to music or podcasts through headphones. I was lucky enough to test Aftershokz’ Trekz Titanium Bluetooth headphones and I was blown away.

These magic headphones work by conducting sound through your jawbone instead of through your ear canals.

As they explain it: “Bone conduction technology delivers music through your cheekbones, ensuring ears remain completely open to hear ambient sounds.” Continue reading Review: Aftershokz Trekz Titanium Bluetooth bone-conducting headphones

Chafing.

It’s a seven-letter word that strikes fear into the heart of any runner (or cyclist). It’s a result of doing what we love to do, but when your body and clothes team up on you and say they just don’t want you to do them anymore!

But, thanks to 2TOMs SportShield, I’ve been able to avoid some of that dreaded word, especially this winter. The SportShield comes in a handy roll-on applicator, which is handy to get to some of the spots it’s needed. Continue reading Review: 2TOMs SportShield

Review: 2XU VECTR sock and Performance Run calf sleeve

assetSocks and calf sleeves might not get you excited… but then you might not be a runner. I always feel that socks are one of the most important items in your running gear wardrobe, as they’re your only line of defense between the ground, your shoes and your skin.

I was able to test out the 2XU VECTR sock and Performance Run Calf Sleeves, which I found to be both comfortable and comforting while out on my runs.

The sock is a tight fight — almost a second-skin — which was great for keeping my foot feeling good. It allowed me to lace up my shoes a little tighter, which I feel helps me run and not supinate as much as I normally do. I also liked that they went a little back the ankle bone, without being a full-on mid-ankle sock. I find they stay on, and in place, better than those that scoop a little lower around the ankle bone. Review: Luvo gourmet frozen entrees

Two weeks ago, I was on the road for work. That usually leads to fast food, bad meal decisions and a lingering garbage-like feeling throughout the week.

I was happy that when I got home, I had a package waiting for me with some good, frozen meals inside. These five Luvo meals, which I received as part of being a BibRave Pro (see above), were a welcome sight as I did not have time or energy to go food shopping for my first week back in the daily grind.

asset (3)I grabbed one a day, for the week, and found myself eating some delicious and fast meals, with good protein numbers, good calorie counts and not a lot of sodium (rare for frozen meals).

Remove from box, keep in bag! Continue reading Review: Luvo gourmet frozen entrees

Review: 2XU Thermal Tights #RunHyoptik

Disclaimer: I received one pair of 2XU thermal tights to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!

With the temperature dropping as summer turned to fall, and fall turned to winter, it was time to ditch the running shorts in favor of longer, warmer wears.

They work during the day, too!

I received a pair of 2XU Thermal Tights to try out and I’ve worn them over the last few months on a multitude of runs. I opted to get the 3/4 length option, since I normally like to wear higher socks and thought that would be sufficient. I realize now, as it gets colder and colder, that the full-length ones are probably best if you’re looking to stay warm as you run! Continue reading Review: 2XU Thermal Tights #RunHyoptik
